Each year the Professional Photographers of New York State (PPSNYS) and the Professional Photographers Association of New Jersey (PPANJ) hold a regional print competition at their annual convention called, PhotoNorthEast. Images are scored by a panel of judges and earn ribbons based on how well an image is executed according to the 12 elements that make up the “gold standard” of a merit image. These include: impact, technical excellence, creativity, style, composition, presentation, color balance, center of interest, lighting, subject matter, technique and storytelling. Out of all the images that receive a blue ribbon for excellence, ten are picked to be the cream of the crop and are given the Court of Honor Award. The image above entitled, “Kapow!,” was chosen to be one of the top ten images in the entire state of New York and New Jersey.
I am extremely proud of this achievement and grateful to have the opportunity to have my work recognized by my peers. I owe a lot to these professional organizations who are an integral part of my professional and business growth.
